The restaurant gets its name from the iconic Dominican shirts worn by professional cigar rollers called “chacabanas”. They are a lightweight version of a traditional military shirt, with plenty of pockets that can hold many cigars. The shirts are also incredibly popular in Cuba. As a fashion staple in both of the countries that Chacabanas represents, what could be a better name for a restaurant that serves both Cubano sandwiches and Dominican croquetas?
